Interviews with Slick Aguilar and Dave Pucciarelli. Plus a music mixed bag of Latin and live tunes.
We learn a few things about Slick in the interview. He is one of 11 children. Wow, 11. While talking about favourite albums, Slick says that Grateful Dead’s Europe ’72 is up there for him. Doug says that if he could take 25 albums to a deserted island, Peter Kaukonen’s Black Kangaroo would be one of them.
Peter Kaukonen is the younger brother of Jefferson Airplane’s Jorma Kaukonen. Check out the Up Or Down track on Black Kangaroo. This song in particular exhibits the influence of Jimi Hendrix and Johnny Winter.
Speaking of guitar players from Jefferson Starship check out Craig Chaquico’s Native Tongue track.
Later in the show Dave Pucciarelli stops into the studio with a homemade CD of esoteric Beatles songs. Check out the Sgt Peppers (Live Take) track played in the show.
Dave has Uncle Buggy play a few tracks from the Dark Side Of The Mule album by Gov’t Mule. Dave reckons that the Comfortably Numb track (not played in the show) is outstanding.
